Welcome to Butterflies class page,
We hope you have had a lovely Christmas break.
This half term we are learning all about Toys. In this topic we will be investigating the different types of toys and how we can sort them into groups. Alongside this we will observe and explore how toys have evolved over time. We have many exciting art and craft activities planned, which include making wheeled vehicles and sock puppets. There will be additional information sent out via email regarding recycled resources that we may need your help collecting.
Also we will be exploring and retelling the story 'Whatever Next' by Jill Murphy to demonstrate our learning. In Maths we will continue to consolidate our counting skills and moving on to addition and subtraction.
Now that we have taught all phase 2 sounds, we will be learning phase 3 sounds. Sound folders are sent home on Fridays and are expected back the following Wednesday. The aim of the sound folders is to inform you as parents about the phonics focus for the week and to allow children to consolidate this at home. Please continue to support your child with their home learning. We also continue our ‘Doodle Time’ whereby we focus on how to form a different letter every day. When your child is writing at home, please encourage them to use cursive writing as we do in school.
PE days continue to be Tuesdays however we do sometimes do additional PE on other days. Therefore, please ensure that PE kits are in school all week. We also suggest bringing a warmer tracksuit now that it is colder. Most of the PE sessions are indoors but occasionally they will be outside, even in the winter.
Please also see the attached allergy poster for Butterflies.
Please remember that we are always happy to answer any questions you may have with regards to your child’s school life.
