Ladybirds (Reception AS)

Ladybirds class page,

Welcome back to our second half term in Reception!

We are looking forward to our next half term full of even more exploring and investigating.

During the last week of our recent half term we had fun exploring ‘The Spiral of Life’ as part of our whole school Take One Picture learning. The children created paintings, prints and collages based on the picture and explored new vocabulary. We are excited to share their hard work with you during Parents Evening next week.

We are continuing our topic called 'Super Me!' but this half term will be focusing on ‘People Who Help Us’. We will be learning about all different kinds of people and jobs. We will be developing our number skills through a variety of counting, matching and investigating numbers. On a seasonal note, we will be looking at fireworks, fire safety and Diwali.

In phonics we will continue to enjoy learning new sounds and segmenting and blending words as we all grow in skill and confidence.

We would like to welcome you to our Christmas play on Monday 16th December at 2pm and Tuesday 17th December at 9.30am. More information on tickets and the play to follow. We will also be celebrating Christmas with our Christmas lunch on Wednesday 11th December.

PE lessons will be on a Thursday, however we do sometimes do additional PE on other days. Therefore, please ensure that PE kits are in school all week. We also suggest bringing a warmer tracksuit now that it is colder. Most of our PE sessions are indoors but occasionally they will be outside, even in the winter.

It is great to see many of the children eating the fruit provided by the school for their mid-morning snack. If your child is bringing in their own snack, please ensure that it is either fruit or vegetables. We do have children with severe allergies both within our class and across the school therefore there must be NO NUTS in any of the children’s snacks or packed lunches. Please also see the attached allergy poster for Ladybirds. Please provide water in your child's water bottle.

Please remember that we are always happy to answer any questions you may have with regards to your child’s school life.
