Welcome back to the Spring term!
This term our topic is called ‘Spectacular Stories’! We are looking forward to exploring and discovering lots of new fiction stories whilst developing our vocabulary. We will be exploring the book collection ‘Happy Families’ by Allan Ahlberg in greater depth as the term goes on. This will give us the opportunity to compare and contrast how our lives may be different to our Great Grandparents.
In phonics we will continue to learn new sounds (Phase 3) and continue to grow in confidence when blending and segmenting simple words. We will also continue to develop our number skills through a variety of counting, comparing quantities and investigating numbers.
Please continue to check your child’s SeeSaw account for more frequent updates on what we have been learning about. We will also continue to provide you with activities to do at home to consolidate their learning.
We would also like to share a short video with you explaining the Early Years curriculum, what we teach in Reception and a few ways to support your child at home. Please have a watch (using the link below) and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
This term, our PE lesson will be every Tuesday. Please make sure your child comes into school wearing their PE kit. We also suggest wearing a warmer tracksuit now that it is colder. Please ensure all hoodies and jumpers are clearly named.
It is great to see many of the children eating the fruit provided by the school for their mid-morning snack. If your child is bringing in their own snack, please ensure that it is either fruit or vegetables. We do have children with severe allergies across the school therefore there must be NO NUTS in any of the children’s snacks or packed lunches. Please also see the attached allergy poster for Ladybirds. Please provide water in your child's water bottle.
Please remember that we are always happy to answer any questions you may have with regards to your child’s school life.
