Raccoons (Year 1 W)

Subject help videos

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to share some short videos with you to enable you to understand how we teach each of the core subjects at school and how you can support your child with their learning at home.

Each video is subject specific although there are similarities between the Phonics and Reading videos.

Please use the links below to access these.

We hope these are both informative and useful.

Please do not hesitate to contact us via email to the school office if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards,

Mrs Burgisser and Miss Hemmings

Year 1 Class Teachers

June 2022

Welcome back Raccoons!

Welcome back to school after your half term, we hope you had a lot of fun celebrating the jubilee and are looking forward to a new term of learning.

This term we are continuing our topic ‘Pirate Panic!’

We are really looking forward to our Pirate Day adventure which will be the start of an exciting pirate themed term!

We will be continuing to find out more about life as a pirate during our pirate day and, as part of the topic, we will be using our geography skills to explore other countries and finding out about the plants that grow there through our science lessons. We will also be discovering some more pirate stories through Book Talk and making our own pirate flags in DT!

We will be continuing to build on our writing skills using verbs, adjectives and nouns to write effective sentences and ensuring we understand place value, addition and subtraction in maths.

As you can see this last half-term is packed full of fun activities and learning opportunities, some of these are on our home learning grid which you can access on our webpage. Please post your child’s home learning on Seesaw for us to share and celebrate in class.

On this page you will find:

-        The home learning grid for the Summer term

-        The topic grid for Pirate Panic!

-        Summer term spellings
