** Week 1 Home Learning outline uploaded below **
Welcome to Seahorses class page,
After a brilliant first term, and a lovely Christmas break, we have started the Spring term with a ‘flash, a bang and a boom!’. Fortunately, this is the name of our topic this term, and we will be exploring lots of new and interesting themes in our topic lessons, including mountains and volcanoes in geography, light and magnets in science, and much, much more.
In Maths, we will continue to work on multiplication and division, but also move onto looking at money, statistics and length and perimeter for the first time this school year. In English, we will be using the ‘Fantastics’ to help us work on our writing skills, applying this to a thought-provoking text, ‘The Secret of Black Rock’. Later in the term, we will also be looking at newspaper reports and starting to write our own.
PE lessons will now be on a Monday and a Tuesday, however we do sometimes do additional PE on other days. Therefore, please ensure that PE kits are in school all week. We also suggest bringing a warmer tracksuit now that it is colder. Most of our PE sessions are indoors but occasionally they will be outside, even in the winter.
Home learning is due in each Friday. We look forward to celebrating the work they produce with you at home.
Spellings are assessed each week on a Friday as well as times tables.
Now your child is in KS2, they may bring their own snack as none is provided by the school. Please ensure that it is either fruit or vegetables. We do have children with severe allergies both within our class and across the school therefore there must be NO NUTS in any of the children’s snacks or packed lunches. Please also see the attached allergy poster for Seahorses. Please provide water in your child's water bottle.
Please remember that we are always happy to answer any questions you may have with regards to your child’s school life.
