Tigers (Year 5 W)

Every Autumn we usually invite parents into school to share with you learning strategies and expectations to support your child with learning in Year 5. This year we have had to record these presentations for you to view at your leisure in the comfort of your own home. Please click on the links below to view the presentation.

Welcome everyone to Tigers class page. We're excited to share our new topic 'Extreme Earth ' which centres around the study of the River Thames and extreme environments. In RE we will answering the question: what is the kingdom of God? We will be following the remarkable journey of Ernest Shackleton and his trip to Antarctica.

In English, the first novel we will be reading as a class is Kick by Mitch Johnson. Kick tells the story of Budi, a young boy living on the streets of Jakata, who has big dreams of becoming a professional footballer. We will then read The Nowhere Emporium by Ross MacKenzie and Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend.

Whilst we are excited to be back, this half-term will be focused on getting back to regular school life and establishing the children's confidence in learning.

For Tigers class, PE will be on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please remember that the children will need to wear their kit into school on those days.

On this page you will find:

   - The home learning grid for Summer 1 half-term and will be focused on maths and English;

   - Topic grid for ‘Extreme Earth';

   - Maths Resources and Reading Lists to support learning at home.

 Home Learning should be uploaded to Seesaw if you wish to share it with your teacher and class. Spellings will be tested on Thursday afternoons.
