Maths is an area in school which we are striving to develop further at the moment and your support in maths at home can help all of our children enhance and practise what they are learning in the classroom.
We have worked hard in school to produce a number of things that will be useful to help support your child in maths at home. These include:
1. Half termly maths ‘Home Support for Maths’ sheets which are now available on this page to download. The first set were also handed out at the 'Meet your new teacher evening' in September. These contain an overview of what objectives your child is learning in school each week in order for you to know what they are learning about in school and support further at home.
2. Maths home learning suggestions are given for maths are given on our home learning grids every half term for each year group. These should provide you with a range of activities for your child to pick from; again these are directly related to maths learning for their year group. These are available to download under each class page.
3.Abacus as an online resource where children can play maths games at home to support what they are learning in the classroom. These are directly linked to the topics that they are learning about in their particular year group and set at an individual level specific to your child’s learning needs. Further information on how to use Abacus and what it can offer your child is in the information document available on this page. Children have their own individual login to access this.
I am currently working on further ways in which we can share maths information with parents and looking at running future workshops on how to support your child further as the year progresses.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
